Victim of Excuses?

By Wendy Ratel of Fresh-N Home Products

My life's road has never been one of conformity. It has always been a fairly safe road, but yet different.

I liked school, but didn't like most of the people I went to school with. I left home to go to university and then decided to transfer half way through my degree. I married outside my race and religion and then was divorced within 5 years with a young son (the first in my family to divorce). I became one of 3 directors in a direct sales company and then moved on...

The above sounds like a mass of contradictions. Moreover, it's been a learning experience. Each and every time I've attempted to conform, it's not worked. I've not been happy.

Yes, I'm married. I have 3 kids, a home and a pretty great life, but it's been on my terms. I don't fit the norm. I'm not a PTA mom. I hate gossip. I love being with the kids at their sporting events. I love working from home - by myself.

I find that the more I create and celebrate my own path, the more successful I am. When I started Fresh-N, I felt I didn't have the knowledge to create a product, design packaging, market it... At first, I listened to those around me, spent a bunch of money I shouldn't have and ended up very confused. A girlfriend finally said to me that it really was a blessing that I didn't KNOW what the acceptable norm was. I hadn't realize until that moment that I had been trying to find the "path" everyone else used to build a brand. By not knowing, I was able to create new and innovative ways to promote the products. She's right! I still stumble and allow others to make suggestions. Some of those suggestions have been implemented. I'm not oblivious to the great talent that surrounds me. The more I listen to my gut, the better off I am and the larger the company grows.

It's an interesting road. I'm no longer trying to fit in and then place blame when things don't work for me. I'm no longer a victim of excuses.

There are days that I'm very successful and others, well, it's a work in progress. I do know something is right when my son phones on Mother's Day and chats about the marketing plan of his painting company and he's only 21 and still at university. I do know I'm doing something right when I'm the first phone call after my girls get a great mark at school or when they've been let down. Those to me are markers of a successful life.

Fresh-N Home Products believes in supporting kids in sports and hopes to someday pay for kids to play. Right now, we donate product to fundraisers and offer great incentives and payouts when teams use our products to fundraise with. Fresh-N Home Products promise you won't smell anything.

I heard a long time ago, that an excuse was another word for a lie, Wendy. Many times I think that we lie to our- selves, rather then face the responsibility of what we need to do.
Thank you for sharing this fine intel.
Best wishes.

This reminds me of what my dad always told me.

No one ever excused his way to success. ~Dave Del Dotto

Sounds like you are on your way to success.

It's a constant work in progress, but then I'm not happy if I'm not learning. Thanks for reading.
